REVIEWS AND TESTIMONIALS
"Shari sees the potential in our son. We have seen tremendous growth in him, his learning, his willingness to work, his own creativity with writing and confidence in reading. Working with Shari is more than simply working with a tutor, it's like gaining a coach who isn't there for just one moment, but is there to see you through to the end."
"Cassidee made leaps I never thought she could from one month ago! This means the absolute world to me. I’ve worked 1000’s of hours with her, struggling for six years. Every reading specialist out there has worked with her and made a few strides, but nothing like this! You are a complete gift from God. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
With us, you don't just learn how to teach reading and writing. We teach you how to think about the learning process with regards to your particular child. We show you how to be a detective of your child and look for clues to guide your instruction. This will impact every area of your teaching and go beyond the confines of any program.
Let us support you every step of the way and make your instructional time a bonding experience!
Our comprehensive packages have trainings in all areas of reading. With our Reader Discovery Package, we know exactly where your child is in every area. We can then give you a blueprint on which components will benefit you in the stage of development that your child is in. This keeps you from getting overwhelmed or trying to implement techniques that your child is not yet ready for.
Yes, we have a variety of ways we can meet your child's instructional needs. Tutoring sessions include a comprehensive reading and writing assessment (our Reader Discovery Package) so that everything we teach is specifically tailored to your child. Sessions can be online or in person, depending on location.
"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel" -Maya Angelou
Our priority is supporting you and your child in your literacy journey.
For some, that looks like a session or 2 listening to what you are already doing, what's working and what isn't to problem-solve and streamline instruction.
For others, it looks like reviewing a recording of a lesson and providing a few helpful suggestions of tweaks that will add mileage to your lessons. We love to show you everything you are doing well! Most parents are hard on themselves and don't realize what they are doing right.
For others, it looks like a combination of tutoring for 45 minutes so that you can see how I teach your particular child and then using the last 15 minutes to talk about how the lesson went, celebrate growth, and plan for what your child is ready to learn next.
Yes! We'd love to partner with you to set you up for success teaching your child to read. If you have several kids with varying abilities, we can look at each child's data, along with your priorities for education and help you create an organizational plan. We look at the age/maturity of each child and imbed independent work time in so that you have concentrated 1 on 1 time with each child. We also show you how to have a multiage perspective so that you can use the same assignment, but have different learning outcomes that are specific to each child.
*Kids I work with one-on-one consistently grow 1+ year's growth on the Qualitative Reading Inventory, both in decoding and comprehension.
*They consistently have more detailed retellings and are better able to create content images and interact with the text they are reading to deepen comprehension.
*They consistently develop more confidence in their written self-expression with better, more detailed ideas. They use punctuation and sentence structure to enhance flow.
*Parents learn new ways to interact with their learners to build confidence. Looking at their child from a detective perspective builds a bond between parent and child because they feel understood.
"When I know exactly where my kiddo is, preparing for his reading lesson becomes the easiest part of my day because I know where to go next and I can trust that what I am teaching is the most effective use of our time together."
